In June 2011, a group of 18 students from Connecticut and Brazil traveled to Riobamba to assist in the construction of the clinic’s new 2nd floor. The group traveled under the leadership of John Herd and Leslie Wiedmann-Herd and was sponsored by Renbrook Summer Adventure Camp in West Hartford, CT.

The group’s work and contribution were remarkable and the entire fabrication, reinforcement and cementing of the new ceiling/floor was accomplished in one week. The group also participated in a “caravana” bringing the clinic’s medical care to a village near Guamote. 130 children received general medical and dental care. The group also visited the festival of San Pedro in Alausi where they enjoyoed the fun and beautiful “Parade of Joy.”
