Since our inception in 2007, FIBUSPAM has hosted dozens of foreign surgical teams who have successfully completed thousands of life-changing and life-saving procedures. The work of international medical teams not only brings specialized care to the region, but also provides an opportunity for valuable educational and cultural exchanges with local medical professionals.
FIBUSPAM partners with qualified medical teams and offers short-term assignments starting at one week in length for volunteer doctors, dentists, and other health care professionals. We also partner with non-medical volunteers who are interested in supporting our mission.
Our clinic is a secure and well-equipped base for teams of foreign surgeons who wish to travel to Ecuador to do humanitarian work and we welcome new partners. In addition to clinical volunteers, we also host undergraduate, graduate, and medical interns. Please use the contact form to inquire about current opportunities.

Student Trips
FIBUSPAM receives teams of American and International high school and college students who volunteer at our clinic in Ecuador and spend time interacting with the communities that we serve. Over the past few years we have received groups from a high school in Pennsylvania, a middle school in Connecticut, and Universities in Brazil and Delaware. Please feel free to read about one student’s experience traveling to Ecuador on our blog.
Components of the volunteer program include the supervised assistance of patients at our local clinic and serving families in need within the indigenous community. Examples of volunteer tasks include: assisting in administering patient eye chart exams, interacting with and supporting families during the patient intake process, assisting with facility improvement projects at the clinic site, and providing support with neighboring schools’ projects. We also incorporate excursions to the near-by volcano Mt. Chimborazo and other nature adventures into the volunteer itinerary when possible. Please email [email protected] for information about planning a trip.
“Volun-Tour” with FIBUSPAM!
FIBUSPAM offers “Volun-Tour” trips which combine engaging volunteer work with unforgettable tours of Ecuador’s unique ecosystems. These trips serve the medical and social needs of vulnerable Ecuadorian populations, while offering the trip participant the opportunity to experience the beauty of Ecuador. FIBUSPAM’s “Volun-Tour” itineraries range from exploring the volcanoes of the Andes to taking an adventure to the Amazon.
